Bar of the Week: Perching Bar, Champagne

Some of my happiest childhood memories include treehouses and swings … and that is exactly what this week’s Bar of the Week is;  a treehouse where you can sit in a swing and drink Champagne.  Enter Perching Bar … a Champagne Bar perched high up in the trees in the heart of the Montagne de Reims.

Perching Bar is built around a large Oak tree 7m off the ground and is accessed by wooden walkways.  It is situated in Verzy, about 15 min from either Reims or Epernay.  It is cosy and comfortable with breathtaking views over the valley and vineyards of Champagne.  In keeping with its natural surroundings, it is powered entirely by solar panels.

Perching Bar is open from around mid-April to mid-December, weather dependant.  It is only open from Wednesdays to Sundays and certain operating hours apply.  It cannot accommodate large numbers and children under 12 are not allowed.  Booking 48 hours in advance is absolutely essential.  Your booking includes a tasting glass of Champagne from the daily selection.

Check the weather before you head out, and I would suggest reconfirming your reservation if you think it looks a bit iffy, as they can cancel reservations for safety precautions because of weather.  You will find Perching Bar at Forêt de Brise Charrette, 51 380 Verzy.  For bookings call + 33 6 07 67 94 42 or email info@perchingbar.eu

The website appears to be under construction at the moment, but have a look at their Facebook or Instagram for more info and images.

I’m hoping to get to Champagne sometime this year, Perching Bar is definitely on my list.
